Ways to shade a terrace
It depends on sun, wind and whether you rent the home out. We often combine two.
Fixed to the façade, out in a minute with a remote or a sun and wind sensor that closes them before a gust does damage.
Vertical screens on the open sides of a pergola or a porch. They stop low sun, wind and insects, and you still see out.
Cantilever umbrellas of 3–4 metres that turn with the sun, on a weighted base or a ground fixing. Nothing fixed to the house.
Over an outdoor kitchen

Questions and answers
Wind, fabric, permission and care.
A wind sensor retracts it automatically before the wind gets strong enough to damage it. We fit one as standard. [CONFIRM]
Solution-dyed acrylic or technical screen fabric, which keeps its colour for years. You choose from samples at the site visit. [CONFIRM: fabric brands]
Usually not from the town hall, but many communities set rules for awning colour and fabric on the façade. Check with your administrator before you choose.
A cantilever umbrella should be closed in strong wind. On a ground fixing or a heavy base it handles a normal sea breeze.
